The project researches and records the history of Edinburgh's smaller hospitals with an emphasis on the collection of oral history reminiscences of former hospital staff and patients. The project aims to produce short films documenting the history of these hospitals using interviews, film footage and archive material.  Any oral history reminiscences will be preserved by LHSA for future research.

The first phase of the project is focussing on the Elsie Inglis Memorial Maternity Hospital (EIMMH) and Bruntsfield Hospital.  In both cases the planned films were split into two c. 15 minute films, one focussing on the hospital itself and one on the woman closely connected with each hospital, namely Sophia Jex Blake for Bruntsfield Hospital, and Elsie Inglis for EIMMH.

Plans for the future include the completion of films on Leith Hospital and the Paderewski Hospital at the Western General.
