Administrative History: The house and grounds at Muirfield, Gullane, were bequeathed to the Sick Children's Hospital by Miss Mary Jane Meikleham, and answered the hospital's need for a convalescent home for children over the age of two. The Home opened in 1909 with accommodation for 24 children as well as staff.
