Name of creator(s): Derrick Melville Dunlop (1902-1980), medical practitioner
Biographical History: Dunlop was born in Edinburgh in 1902 and educated at Oxford and Edinburgh. He was appointed Christison Professor of Therapeutics and Clinical Medicine at University of Edinburgh in 1936 and held this post until he retired in 1962. He was knighted in 1960 and made Physician to Queen in Scotland in 1961. Numerous publications and honours. He won international recognition for his work on drug safety and control. He died in 1980.
