Biographical History: James Allan Gray graduated MB ChB from University of Edinburgh in 1959. He worked part-time as a senior university lecturer, and from 1969-1995 he was consultant in communicable diseases at Edinburgh City Hospital. His history of the City Hospital was published in 1999
