Name of creator(s): John Gregory (1724-1773), medical practitioner
Biographical History: John Gregory was born in 1724. He studied at Edinburgh, Leiden and Aberdeen, and was Professor of Philosophy at Aberdeen from 1746-1749. He became First Physician to His Majesty in Scotland in 1766. In the same year he became Professor of Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, a post he held until his death in 1773.
